Welcome to Monticello! We are glad you are here and hope you will be a resident of Monticello for a long time. Please remember City Hall is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M., for business. Listed below are a few things about City Hall you may need to know.
If you are new to the area please be sure to visit our Visitors’ Center located next to City Hall. You will find information about the community.
Services Available
Services available to you are electric, gas, water, sewer, and garbage.
Billing Information
You will notice that your meter is read about the same time each month. All utility bills are processed and mailed on the last working day of the month. These bills are due and payable by the 15th. If the 15th falls on a weekend you have the following business day until 4:30 P.M. All bills not paid by close of business on the 20th are subject to disconnect. Reconnect fees will be charged, if disconnected. All city meters are the property of the City of Monticello. In the event you should have trouble after hours, please call 706-468-4930 (Non emergency 911 center) and they will assist you. Remember that tampering with City meters and theft of City services are crimes and fines may be imposed.
City Taxes
City taxes are assessed, billed, and collected by Jasper County. Assessment notices are mailed in early spring. Tax bills are sent in late July or early August. Taxes may be paid to the Jasper County Tax Commissioner in two payments with the first payment due September 20th and the second due December 20th.
