AUDIT SERVICES

The City of Monticello is seeking the professional services of a Certified Public Accountant firm (“Auditor”) for financial and compliance audits. The contract will be for consecutive fiscal years beginning with the fiscal year ended June 30, 2023, and ending with fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, subject to annual review and the annual availability of an appropriation for audit services by the government entity. The audit shall be conducted in accordance with auditing standards generally accepted in the United States, promulgated by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and in according with the standards applicable to financial audits contained in Government.

Interested firms are encouraged to contact the City of Monticello at lsands@monticelloga.org to request an RFP packet. Requirements will be sent promptly by e-mail to firms interested in responding to the request. All proposals are due by noon EST on April 25, 2024, at Monticello City Hall.

Questions about any aspect of the RFP shall be directed in writing to lsands@monticelloga.org.

The City of Monticello reserves the right to reject any and all Request for Proposals, as well as to waive technicalities and informalities. 

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given that the Mayor and Council of the City of Monticello has determined that it appears that a portion of Monticello City Street, Church Street, next to Monticello Baptist Church, a parcel of 0.1232 acres, in Monticello, Jasper County, may have ceased to be used by the public and that no substantial public purpose would be served by the continuation of the same as a public thoroughfare, and it may be abandoned, then sold to Monticello Baptist Church. Existing utility easement rights shall be reserved for the City and County.

Said parcel of approximately 0.1232 acres, more or less, is more particularly described as follows: All that parcel of approximately 0.1232 acres, more or less, in Monticello, Jasper County, the 179.02’ long extension of Church Street (30’ ROW) that exits Church Street and enters onto the Monticello Baptist Church access, and being more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at the intersection of the extension of Church Street that exits Church Street and the Northerly margin of the variable width right-of-way of Greene Street which is the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING;

Thence N24°26’07″E a distance of 179.02 feet along the Southeastern right-of-way (ROW) of the extension of Church Street that exits Church Street to the current Monticello Baptist Church property, thence N64°35’45″W a distance of 30’, thence returning S24°25’55″W a distance of 179.42 feet along the Northwestern right-of-way of the extension of Church Street, to the ROW of West Greene Street, thence SW a distance of 30’ along the ROW of West Greene Street to the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING.

Per the above determination, and OCGA 32-7-2(c), the Mayor and Council of the City of Monticello will hold a public hearing on April 13, 2021, at 6 o’clock p.m., at Monticello Government Complex, 123 West Washington Street, Monticello, Georgia 31064 for the purpose of deciding whether to declare the aforesaid property abandoned and sell it.

If abandoned, that section of Church Street shall no longer be a part of the municipal street system and the rights of the public in and to that section of street as a public road shall cease. The property may be disposed of by the City as provided in Code Section 32-7-4, including selling it to the surrounding property owner.

A copy of said plat and an abandonment Resolution is available for public inspection during business hours.

BUDGET REVIEW & ADOPTION
(July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021)

PUBLIC HEARING ON FY21 BUDGET: A Public Hearing on the FY21 Budget is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 6 PM in the Council Chambers in City Hall located at 123 West Washington Street. At this meeting, the Mayor and Council will receive both written and oral comments about the Annual Operating and Capital Budget for the City of Monticello.

RECOMMENDED BUDGET AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW: The FY21 Recommended Budget will be available for public inspection by contacting City Hall at (706) 468-6062 during normal office hours beginning Thursday, June 4, 2020.

BUDGET ADOPTION: The Council of the City of Monticello is scheduled to adopt the FY21 Budget at its regular meeting beginning 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 in the City Hall Chambers located at 123 West Washington Street, Monticello, Georgia, 31064.

The City of Monticello governing authority does hereby announce that the millage rate will be set at a meeting to be held at the City of Monticello Council Chambers, 123 W Washington Street, on June 4, 2019 beginning at 6:00 pm and pursuant to the requirements of OCGA 48-5-32 does hereby publish the following presentation of the current year’s tax digest and levy along with the history of the tax digest for the past five years the 11th of June, 2019 beginning at 6pm.
